Terms of Use
Last updated November 5, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Ember Labs Limited ("Ember Labs," "we," "us" or "our"), the company that makes No Contact. They apply to the No Contact mobile app, the website at gonocontact.com and any related services we provide (together, the "Service").
Please read them carefully. They explain what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, how subscriptions and refunds work, and the limits of what No Contact can do.
The short version
- No Contact is a self-help tool for getting through a breakup. It is not therapy, medical care or a crisis service. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number straight away.
- You must be 18 or older to use No Contact.
- What you write in the app (journal entries, evidence, check-ins) belongs to you. We only use it to run the Service for you.
- Premium is a subscription that renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time. App Store purchases are managed and refunded by Apple. Website purchases are managed by us, and EU and UK customers can cancel within 14 days of their first payment for a full refund.
- The community has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, hate and abuse.
- These Terms are governed by Irish law, but if you are a consumer you keep every protection the law where you live gives you.
1. Who we are
No Contact is provided by Ember Labs Limited, a private company limited by shares, incorporated in Ireland, with its registered office at 1 Watermill Lawn, Raheny, Dublin 5, Ireland. You can reach us at support@gonocontact.com or through the in-app chat. Full contact details are in section 24.
2. Accepting these Terms
By downloading, accessing or using the Service, or by creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
3. No Contact is not medical care or a crisis service
No Contact offers self-help tools, guided programs, educational content and peer support for people going through a breakup. It is designed to support your wellbeing, not to replace professional care.
- Not medical or psychological treatment. The Service does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric or counselling advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a medical device. Content about topics such as attachment, trauma bonds or the nervous system is general education, not advice about your situation.
- Not a crisis service. No Contact does not monitor what you write and cannot respond to emergencies. If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or you are in danger, contact your local emergency number (112 or 999 in Ireland and the EU, 911 in the US) or a crisis line in your country straight away.
- Your safety plan is a personal tool. Features such as the safety plan and the evidence vault help you organise your own information. They are not monitored, do not alert anyone, and are not legal advice. If you are experiencing abuse, please contact local support services or the police.
- Talk to a professional. Please speak to a doctor, therapist or other qualified professional about your mental and physical health, and before making medical decisions. Never ignore professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in the Service.
4. Who can use No Contact
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you are legally able to enter into these Terms. If we learn that someone under 18 is using the Service, we will close their account.
5. Your account
- Accurate information. If you create an account, please give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keeping it secure. You are responsible for keeping your login details and device secure, and for activity under your account. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, contact us straight away.
- One person per account. Accounts are personal. Please do not share, sell or transfer yours.
- Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time from the settings in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your content as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription. See section 7 for how to cancel.
6. Subscriptions and payments
6.1 Free and Premium features
Some features of No Contact are free. Others are available only with a paid subscription ("Premium"). Before you buy, we show you what Premium includes, the price, the currency and the billing period. The features included in each plan may change over time, as described in section 14.
6.2 Buying through the App Store
If you subscribe in the iOS app, your purchase is processed by Apple and is also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. For App Store subscriptions:
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings (on iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions).
- If you are offered a free trial, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
6.3 Buying on our website
If you subscribe on our website, payment is processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. Stripe is certified to the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). We never see or store your full card details. For website subscriptions:
- Prices are shown before you pay, in the currency stated at checkout, including VAT or sales tax where it applies.
- Premium is delivered digitally. It is unlocked on your account as soon as your payment is confirmed, and there is nothing to ship.
- We charge your payment method when you confirm the purchase, and again at the start of each new billing period.
- Your subscription renews automatically for the same billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time using the subscription management link in your billing emails, or by contacting us at support@gonocontact.com. Cancellation stops future renewals. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- You authorise us and Stripe to charge your payment method for each renewal. If a payment fails, we may retry it or pause your Premium access until it is resolved.
6.4 Free trials and promotional offers
We may offer free trials, introductory prices or discounts. The length, price and conditions of each offer are shown before you accept it. Unless you cancel before a free trial or introductory period ends, your subscription continues at the standard price shown at sign-up. Offers are usually limited to one per person and cannot be exchanged for cash.
6.5 Price changes
We may change subscription prices. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for. For website subscriptions, we will tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies, and you can cancel before it takes effect. For App Store subscriptions, Apple notifies you of price changes and, where required, asks for your consent.
7. Cancellation and refunds
7.1 App Store purchases
Apple handles all billing and refunds for purchases made through the App Store. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves. To request one, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support.
7.2 Website purchases
You can cancel a website subscription at any time as described in section 6.3. Except as described in section 7.3 or where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable and we do not give refunds or credits for partly used billing periods. If you think you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days at support@gonocontact.com and we will look into it.
7.3 Your right to cancel within 14 days (EU and UK consumers)
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom and buy a subscription on our website, you can cancel within 14 days of your first payment and receive a full refund, even if you have already used Premium. To do this, email support@gonocontact.com with your account email and a clear statement that you are cancelling. We will refund you within 14 days, to the payment method you used. This applies to your first subscription payment only, not to renewals. App Store purchases are covered by Apple's own refund policy.
7.4 Chargebacks
If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us first. We can usually resolve it quickly. If you open a chargeback for a valid charge, we may suspend your Premium access while the dispute is open.
8. Your content
"Your content" means anything you add to the Service, such as journal entries, check-ins, items in your evidence vault, your manifesto, photos and community posts.
- You own your content. We do not claim ownership of it.
- What you allow us to do. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display your content only as needed to provide, maintain and improve the Service for you. For community posts, this includes showing them to other members as you intended. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we must keep information to comply with the law or as described in our Privacy Policy.
- We do not sell your content, and we never send anything you write to your ex or anyone else.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for your content and must have the right to add it. Please be careful with other people's private information. Do not upload intimate images of anyone, or anything you do not have the right to share.
- Keep your own copies. We work hard to keep your content safe, but please keep copies of anything important. No service can guarantee that data will never be lost.
9. Community rules
The community is a space for people going through the same thing to support each other. To keep it safe, we have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. When you take part, you agree to these rules:
- Be kind. No harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or discrimination of any kind.
- Do not identify, contact, shame or expose anyone, including your ex. Do not share names, photos, contact details or anything else that could identify another person.
- No sexual content, graphic violence, or content that encourages self-harm, suicide or disordered eating.
- No spam, advertising, scams or fake accounts, and do not pretend to be someone else.
- Do not give medical, legal or financial advice as if you were a professional.
- Respect other members' privacy. Do not share what someone posts outside the community.
Reporting, blocking and moderation. You can report any post or member, and you can block anyone so they can no longer interact with you. We use filtering and review to help prevent objectionable content from being posted. We review reports promptly and aim to act on them within 48 hours, including by removing content and suspending or banning the people responsible. We may remove any content or restrict any account that breaks these rules or that we reasonably believe puts others at risk. You can also contact us at support@gonocontact.com about community concerns.
Community members are not professionals. Their views are their own, not ours, and we do not endorse what members post.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service in a way that breaks any law or infringes anyone's rights;
- use the Service to monitor, track, contact or harass another person;
- copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease any part of the Service, or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, try to gain unauthorised access to it, or test its security without our written permission;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access the Service or collect data from it;
- use the Service or its content to build a competing product or to train artificial intelligence models; or
- get around any restriction we have put in place, including subscription or access controls.
11. AI-assisted and automated features
Some features, such as the message analyzer, use automated or AI-assisted processing to generate suggestions or insights based on what you enter. These outputs are generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. They are offered for reflection and support only, not as professional advice or as a statement of fact about anyone. Please use your own judgement, and do not rely on them to make important decisions. How we process information for these features is explained in our Privacy Policy.
12. Our intellectual property and your licence
The Service, including its software, design, text, programs, illustrations, audio and the No Contact name and logo, belongs to Ember Labs or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use. For the iOS app, this licence lets you use No Contact on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions, including through Family Sharing where it is available. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.
13. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services, such as Apple, Stripe and providers that host our systems. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. You must also comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the Service, such as the terms of your mobile network or data plan. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.
14. Changes to the Service
We are always improving No Contact, so features may be added, changed or removed. If we make a change that significantly reduces what you have paid for, we will tell you in advance. If you are a website subscriber and you do not accept the change, you can cancel and receive a refund for the unused part of your current billing period.
15. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in the app.
We may suspend or close your account, or restrict your access, if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if your use puts other people or the Service at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond first. If we close your account without a valid reason under these Terms, we will refund any prepaid website subscription for the unused period.
Sections 8 (to the extent we need to keep information), 12, 16, 17, 19, 22 and 23 continue to apply after your account is closed.
16. Disclaimers
We work hard to make No Contact reliable and helpful, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that it will produce a particular result for you. Healing from a breakup is personal, and outcomes vary.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," and we make no warranties beyond those set out in these Terms. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. In Ireland and the EU, this includes your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 that digital content and services must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality.
17. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for indirect or consequential losses;
- we are not liable for loss of business, revenue or profit, as the Service is for personal use only;
- we are not liable for anything caused by events outside our reasonable control, by third-party services, or by your failure to follow these Terms or to keep your device and login details secure; and
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, and (b) €100.
18. Your responsibility to us
If you break these Terms or the law and that causes a legal claim against us, you are responsible for the losses it causes us, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply if you are using the Service as a consumer, except for losses caused by your deliberate misuse of the Service.
19. App Store terms
If you downloaded No Contact from Apple's App Store, these additional terms apply:
- Agreement. These Terms are between you and Ember Labs only, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Ember Labs, not Apple, is solely responsible for No Contact and its content. These Terms do not conflict with, and do not override, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Licence. Your licence to use No Contact is the one described in section 12.
- Maintenance and support. Ember Labs is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for No Contact, as described in these Terms or as required by law. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support for No Contact.
- Warranty. Ember Labs is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they have not been effectively disclaimed. If No Contact fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of No Contact (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to No Contact. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are Ember Labs' sole responsibility.
- Product claims. Ember Labs, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to No Contact or your possession or use of it, including (i) product liability claims, (ii) any claim that No Contact fails to meet an applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and (iii) claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that No Contact or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Ember Labs, not Apple, will be solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- Legal compliance. You confirm that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You also agree to comply with all applicable export control and sanctions laws.
- Developer contact details. Questions, complaints or claims about No Contact can be sent to Ember Labs Limited at the address and contact details in section 24.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using No Contact.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right, and will be deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
20. Legal and export restrictions
The Service is not available in places where offering it would be against the law. You may not use or access the Service if you are located in a country, or are a person, subject to EU, UK, UN or US sanctions that would prohibit us from providing it to you.
21. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. We will post the updated Terms here and change the "Last updated" date. If we make a material change, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required sooner by law. If you do not agree with the change, you can stop using the Service and cancel your subscription before it takes effect. If you continue to use the Service after that, you accept the updated Terms.
22. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of Ireland or of the country where you live.
If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@gonocontact.com. Most issues can be resolved quickly and informally, and we will do our best to help.
23. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any terms shown to you when you make a purchase, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, for example if our business is sold. We will tell you if this happens, and it will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights or obligations without our written consent.
- Severability. If a court finds any part of these Terms invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation and there is a conflict, the English version applies, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
